Not exactly a biography. It is a collection of interesting events and anecdotes from his life. The author being his staff officer and who subsequently rose to the rank of himself has a habit of patronizing the Field Marshal about anything (unsurprisingly though). But the leadership and wit of the man is undoubtedly worth reading a model to the current generation of leaders. The CD that had The Field Marshal's speech was an additional gift and cherished it completely.

The best book on Sam
FM Sam Manekshaw was one of India's finest military commanders. I didn't know much about him, before I read this book. But Lt. Gen. Depinder Singh has written a marvellous account of Sam's life and work. Must read for all persons interested in Indian military history.
